Week 9

 Checkpoint Demonstration and Feature Development

Week 9 centred on the checkpoint demonstration and responding to Roshan’s feedback with a clear development plan for the final weeks.

At the checkpoint I presented the current state of the VehicleGrid build to Roshan, walking through the three portal system and demonstrating the host charger listing flow, admin verification rubric, and driver explorer and booking screens. Roshan acknowledged the strength of the application structure and the host marketplace concept but flagged that the app needed greater backend depth, real data integration through an external API, and EV intelligence features to reach the higher grade bands.

Following the class Tausif conducted a full testing session across all three portals and compiled a structured report documenting bugs and issues. Based on the testing findings and Roshan’s feedback, Tausif and I identified two priority features to add before Week 12. The first is integrating the Open Charge Map API into the existing map screen to display real public charging stations alongside approved host chargers from our Supabase database. The second is a working EV range calculator in the trip planner screen that uses static vehicle data to calculate whether a driver can reach their destination and suggests a charging stop if not.

I began working on the bug fixes and feature implementation during the week, starting with the status update issue after admin approval and the trip planner input fields. Progress was affected later in the week due to an internet outage which created some setback in the development timeline.

Challenges

The internet outage late in the week disrupted development momentum at a critical point. This will need to be made up in Week 10 to stay on track for the Week 12 demonstration.
